Pros

  • Customizable curriculum
  • Has different types of programs available for students
  • Has U.S. and Philippine accreditations

Cons

  • Quite costly
  • Separate payment for educational materials

If you’re looking for a homeschool institution that offers a customizable curriculum for your child, then Homeschool Global is a good choice.

Homeschool Global offers three types of homeschooling programs: Touch, Tech-AOP (Alpha Omega Publications), and Tech-BJU (Bob Jones University).

Their Touch program has a customizable curriculum. It also has extensive assistance and direction from an experienced advisor so students will have immediate feedback from their teacher.

Tech programs are specially designed for learning where parents are the main facilitators. The only difference between AOP and BJU is the materials provided for students.

Among the homeschools on this list, this is the only one that also offers other types of homeschooling: academies and specialized programs.

In academies, students can learn from school and home. We like that this allows homeschoolers to enjoy a touch of traditional school experiences, giving them the best of both worlds.

Also, they offer specialized programs that cater to challenged students, which is a plus for parents with children struggling in traditional schools.

We were pleasantly surprised that they have U.S. accreditation, too. This makes it fit for students who want to study in the U,S,, and families who are planning to migrate abroad.

The only concern we have is that the programs are quite costly. The program fees cost anywhere from Php 20,000 to Php 70,000, excluding curriculum materials and other fees.

However, we still think that it’s a good homeschool choice, especially if you’re a parent who doesn’t believe in a one-type-fits-all kind of education.

Pros

  • Easy assessments of students
  • Learning materials are bought separately
  • Affordable homeschool fee

Cons

  • Only offers up programs for up to Grade 10
  • Different homeschool fees per level

Peniel Integrated Christian Academy of Rizal, Inc. is a regular school that also provides a home education program for pupils who are unable to attend formal school.

For their program, we like they give parents the freedom to set timetables and teach their children according to the curriculum.

We also admire that they offer an open curriculum, though it is based on DepEd’s K-12 curriculum. So, students are also studying topics similar to those in DepEd-accredited traditional schools, which aligns them well with our education standards.

Upon enrollment, they recommend local textbooks with teaching guides that are consistent with those of DepEd’s. Parents are then permitted to supplement the curriculum with their own chosen resources based on their child’s learning style.

If you’re a parent who doesn’t want to deal with the inconvenience of assessing your child, this homeschool makes it simple. They are only required to compile and submit a portfolio of their child’s records and resources at the end of the school year.

Their homeschool fee, which only costs Php 20,000, is also affordable compared to other homeschools on this list. We also like that the fee excludes learning materials as they give freedom to parents to buy the learning materials they want.

However, the only problem is that homeschool fee is different per year level and it increases as the child moves to another grade level.

Another drawback is that they only offer up to Grade 10, so you will need to transfer your child to another school for senior high school.

Overall, if you want a flexible (and affordable) homeschool for your child, Peniel Integrated Christian Academy of Rizal, Inc. is worth checking out.

Pros

  • Hosts different activities for students
  • Offers parent-and-child activities
  • Have coaches for parents

Cons

  • Follows a June-to-March calendar
  • Focuses on Catholic-style education, which can be limiting
  • Quite expensive

Catholic Filipino Academy offers a different type of homeschool education for students with their curriculum style.

Though they follow DepEd’s K-12 curriculum, they host frequent activities, exciting field excursions, and meet-ups. This is to assist their students to develop healthy social lives.

Despite having online classes, they still provide face-to-face activities for students. This includes orchestras, sports activities, music lessons, math enrichment programs, retreats, workshops to prepare children for the Sacraments, and more.

They also offer parent and child activities through events like Family Camp. This is ideal for families that prioritize relationships above all else because it gives them opportunities to deepen their bond.

We like that with their homeschool programs, they assist parents in teaching their children. They offer coaching so that parents can guide their children effectively.

A drawback of this homeschool, however, is that it focuses on a Catholic style of education. This might give non-Catholic or non-religious families pause.

Added to this, they also follow the June-to-March calendar. So, if you’re transitioning from traditional school to homeschooling, you may need to adjust accordingly.

Overall, if you prioritize teaching your child Catholic values, and don’t mind paying for expensive homeschool fees ranging from Php 30,000 to Php 70,000, then Catholic Filipino Academy is a good option.

Pros

  • Provides 2-day parent orientation and training
  • Implements diagnostic test before enrollment
  • Offers enrollment all year round

Cons

  • Only offers Bible-based curriculum
  • Expenses for materials depend on academic performance

If you’re looking for a homeschool that is accepting enrollment all year round, then School of Tomorrow Philippines is a good bet.

They have a character-building approach for students that focuses on academic performance and leadership traits. Additionally, they implement Biblical, values-based, and personalized learning techniques.

We like the homeschool program is customized for every student through a diagnostic test. Since proper diagnosis is critical to the success of the learner, we value that they target the actual learning needs of students.

However, the result also determines how much you’ll pay because curriculum materials are given based on the student’s diagnosed academic performance level. So if your child scored below expected scores, then you may need to pay for more materials.

Nonetheless, it’s still affordable because the homeschool fee only costs less than Php 30,000.

Also, School of Tomorrow is a good option because the academic advisers arrange a two-day parent orientation and training.

We like that the parents are guided through the entire system, including the usage of various forms, roles and responsibilities, and the record-keeping processes.

The only drawback of their curriculum is that it’s limited to a Bible-based curriculum. If you’re not keen on this approach, this might not be the homeschool for your child.

Pros

  • Offers three types of homeschool programs
  • Affordable rates

Cons

  • Only offers programs for up to Grade 6
  • Programs are designed for stay-at-home parents

If you prefer an affordable homeschool, with rates only costing Php 15,000 to Php 40,000, then B.U.I.L.D. Up Christian School Inc. is your best bet.

They offer three programs for homeschoolers which includes blended learning, homeschool, and homeschool + virtual classroom.

For their blended learning, they offer flexibility so students can both study online and on campus. We like that it is not complicated and the school only administers pre-tests, performance tasks, projects, and other written work.

In terms of pure homeschooling, we value that they allow parents to select the type of parent-led class they prefer: A or B.

For class A, parents are allowed to have open and flexible classes with aligned DepEd K-12 core competencies. And for class B, parents are already provided with a curriculum that should also be aligned with DepEd K-12 core competencies.

If the parents are working from home, they also have the option to homeschool within a virtual classroom context. This means that the classes are teacher-led and parents are only assisting as tutors.

The only flaw that we noticed is that their programs are not the best for parents who are not at home all the time. This is because the programs highly involve parent participation.

Overall, we like that their curriculum focuses on the skills and abilities of the students. Since they are only teaching preschool and elementary students (up to Grade 6), we admire that they prioritize honing students’ skills, imagination, and creativity.

Pros

  • Offers programs from Preschool until Grade 10
  • Also has Pre-Vocational Programs for Learners with Special Needs (LSEN’s)
  • Relatively set fees
  • Sibling discounts available
  • Support for new home school parents

Cons

  • Tuition fees not available on website
  • Doesn’t offer senior high school
  • Limited reviews online

Kids World Integrated School began as a daycare center providing early education services and was given four star accreditation by DSWD. Since then, it’s been one of the best providers of quality education, especially for homeschooling.

They offer programs from Preschool until Grade 10 and we like that they also have Pre-Vocational Programs for Learners with Special Needs (LSEN’s).

Their programs include Pre-K 4 years of age, Kinder – G6, G7 to G10, and Multi-Grade/SPED/Pre-Voc/Alternative Delivery Mode (Home School). Do note that they don’t offer a senior high school program.

We like that their home school program also only has small class sizes so that the teachers can focus on each child. Their class sizes have a 1:3 ratio.

If you’re living abroad but want a school that follows the DepEd curriculum, we think they’re a great choice because children can be enrolled even when they’re based abroad. In fact, they have students living in the Middle East, around Asia and the US.

We think it’s also convenient that students don’t even need to report physically during the school year since exams can be conducted online and documents may be submitted through email or courier.

We like that their fees are relatively set and pretty much everything is included except books and special tutorials.

However, one downside is that they don’t have their tuition fees available on their website. Instead, they will be emailing the fees after submission of the online application.

On the topic of fees, sibling discounts are also available subject to approval of the board.

In terms of support from the school for their home school program, they’ll be helping new parents start up the whole program and they remain open to being emailed throughout the home school period if guidance is needed.

Pros

  • Since 1984
  • K-12 program
  • Variety of subjects offered at at different levels to accommodate divers learners
  • Christian values inculcated in the curriculum

Cons

  • Tuition fees not available on website
  • Limited reviews online
  • Limited information on homeschool program

International Christian Academy began in 1984 and was organized by a group of concerned parents and businessmen from Word for the World Christian Fellowship.

Their aim is to forward their advocacy of producing God-fearing and Bible-believing students and to become agents of change both in Spiritual and applied Academics in the community for the glory of God.

The school follows the K-12 program. The subjects in ICA are taught from the simplest to more complicated concepts anchored to Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).

Their science and mathematics classes are anchored to the regional Science curriculum.

Besides these subjects, they also have English, Filipino, History and other minor subjects such as Music, Art, PE, TLE which includes Robotics and Mandarin Language.

We like that they also offer Filipino (IntroFil) to foreign students and non-Filipino speakers.

For diverse learners, they have comprehensive core, honors, advance placement and remediation to accommodate all types of learners.

Their grading standard is 70/30 Standard for all subjects.

What we like about them is how they focus on the basics of improving literacy while inculcating Christian values. We think this school is perfect for those who put their faith at the forefront.

There’s limited information on the homeschool program on their website and this is something we hope they improve on so that parents can be more informed about this.
