Pros
- Fairly priced
- Has defrost and reheat functions
Cons
- Can’t control its temperature settings
- Consumes a lot of electricity
If you’re looking for a toaster that can do more, the BLACK+DECKER ET122 could be exactly what you’re looking for.
It’s an automatic pop-up toaster with two slots, and 7 levels for browning control. Black+Decker always gets the job done, and the toaster works quickly you’ll have satisfyingly toasted bread in a jiffy!
This Black+Decker model has a metallic, cool-touch body. It is a well-built appliance, with the cool-touch feature making the toaster’s exterior cooler than on the inside while toasting.
What we love about the ET122 model is the functionality of its buttons. Up front you’ll see that the toaster has three of them: frozen, reheat, and cancel.
The frozen button is what you press to defrost frozen bread you might be keeping, like waffles. Once it’s defrosted, it’ll toast perfectly as expected.
The reheat function is for already-toasted bread which may have gone cold when not consumed immediately. It’ll reheat it, good as new, without having to re-toast it.
Pressing the cancel function will immediately stop the toasting process at any point. After turning your browning control to a full 7, you can change your mind mid-way and cancel anytime without having to unplug the toaster!
It also has a crumb tray, which makes it perfect for easy cleanup and maintenance.
What we don’t like about this Black+Decker model is that it doesn’t have temperature setting options, and that it consumes a lot of electricity at 1000W compared to other toasters similar to it.

Pros
- Has a lid and cable organizer
- Low energy consumption
- Offers cute roasting designs
Cons
- Lever is a little tricky to pull down
- Gets a little smoky during first use
The American Heritage AHBT-6201 is a pop-up toaster that fits two slices of bread. It comes in an industrial, modern black design with cool-touch technology and anti-slip feet.
The AHBT-6201 has defrost, reheat, and cancel buttons. At 650W, this appliance does not consume much energy.
The unit also has a cable organizer under its base for easy stowing.
The best thing about this American Heritage model is that it has multiple levels for browning control, which imprint adorable designs on each slice of toast!
The roasting designs come in different variations: a hot cup of coffee, twin hearts, or quirky messages like “Luv U” and “Bite Me”.
The toaster also comes with a lid, which is ideal for keeping dust and small insects out of the appliance when it’s not in use. It also has a slide-out crumb tray at the bottom.
What you need to watch out for is the toaster emitting some smoke the first time you use it, which may be alarming, but the manufacturer assures it’s normal.
Another tricky part about this model is its lever. It doesn’t automatically lock when it’s pulled down. In order to bring it down, you need to hold the toaster and gently push the lever inward.
Once you’ve mastered this little trick, you’ll be ready to make the cutest pieces of toast ever!

Pros
- Most affordable toaster in our roster
- Has a top cover
- Sleek and unique design
- Has automatic bread centering
- Good for thick toast
Cons
- Gives off a metallic smell when you use it
- Unit comes with only 2 rubber feet instead of 4
If you’re in the market for a toaster that’s economical, classic, and reliable, we think you will adore the Asahi BT-027.
This model comes in two colors: a clean, classic white and deep grey. It has a sleek, rounded design that looks good on any countertop.
The toaster would make a lovely addition to your kitchen as it doesn’t take up much space at all. It can fit side by side with other appliances or be stowed easily inside a kitchen cabinet.
The BT-027 toaster has 6 settings for browning, and a cancel button. This two-slice pop-up toaster has significantly broader slots, which are great for thick bread slices.
One of its best features is that it has an automatic bread-centering function, which makes for evenly toasted slices no matter how clumsily you put it in the toaster.
As an added safety feature, its power cord is retractable and the unit has a thermal cutoff fuse. The Asahi toaster also has a top cover, which makes it more hygienic for stowage.
The only downside for this Asahi model is that it emits a metallic smell when you use it, or accidentally put it on without anything toasting inside (our bad!). It also only has two anti-slip rubber feet instead of the usual four.
4. Hanabishi HO70 Bread Toaster

Pros
- Very affordable for what it can do
- Has a greater cooking capacity
- Can cook more than just plain toast in it
Cons
- Need to monitor it closely while it’s warming
- Lacks the fun, pop-up element of a classic toaster
We checked out one oven toaster for our review, and that was the Hanabishi HO70.
It’s a study, black box-type toaster with a wire rack and removable baking tray between two quartz heating rods. The Hanabishi is rather spacious as it can fit and cook up to 9L of food, all at a competitive price.
The HO70 has a small red indicator light to signify when it’s turned on. It is operated by a timer knob which provides up to 30 minutes of cooking time.
If you’re looking to make toast with an appliance that gives you more creativity and wiggle room, this Hanabishi oven toaster will make a great choice. Unlike the pop-up toaster, you can make and reheat more than just plain bread slices inside.
This HO70 model is very versatile because you can treat it like a tiny oven: aside from toasting bread, you can bake cookies and potato dishes or reheat pizza, as long as it’ll fit on the tray!
The other drawbacks we saw for using this toaster model is that we had to monitor it closely as it’s cooking, just to make sure we don’t burn whatever’s inside.
Depending on where and how we put the toast on the tray, it could cook unevenly, which is why we gave it one less point for quality of toast.
When it’s done, it just gives off a timer-end ping, which is helpful, but lacks the fun element of surprise that only a pop-up toaster can provide.

Pros
- Can toast up to 4 pieces of bread at a time
- Sturdy build
- Good for thick bread
- Has a toast boost function
Cons
- Pricey
- Takes up a lot of space
- Consumes a lot of energy
This toaster model from Imarflex is one of the most unique units we’ve reviewed, owing to its sheer capacity, features, and toast quality.
The IS-84S has a silver, box-type frame with four bread slots, two separate levers, 5-setting browning controls, and 3 buttons on each side. They are two sets of stop, reheat, and defrost buttons.
Its extra wide slots can fit in many different types of bread, from burger buns to bagels, waffles to English muffins, and basic sliced bread to frozen pizza. It also has a crumb tray for regular cleaning and toaster maintenance.
One of its best features is its boost function that allows you to lift the toast higher for easy removal.
What we love about the Imarflex IS-84S is that it pushes the boundaries of everything we love about a classic pop-up toaster.
Passionate about toasted bread? It can accommodate whatever type of bread you like in its extra thick slots!
Having difficulty taking the toast out? Use the toast boost function for easy removal!
Love making toast for you and your family? Don’t stop at two slices, they’ll give you four!
Finally, we found this appliance’s toast quality to be exceptional.
This Imarflex model has only three evident disadvantages: it’s far more expensive than other pop-up toasters, it takes up a lot of space on your kitchen counter, and it’s an energy vampire at 1000W.
