Pros

  • 5000 mAh battery can last up to 2 days of continuous use
  • Great for nighttime photography
  • 120-Hz super-smooth refresh rate
  • Has an integrated S-pen

Cons

  • Quite costly
  • No card slot
  • No 3.5mm jack

What’s impressive about the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is that it’s a combination of Samsung’s two flagship lines.

It’s a marriage between the S Series – which focuses on fast chipset and high quality camera – and Note Series – which focuses on productivity with the S-pen.

Additionally, we consider it a ‘concert-friendly’ phone as it is equipped with a 108 MP main camera at the back and a 40 MP camera in the front.

It also has auto-FPS that chooses the best FPS setting that fits the lighting which results in crisper photos and videos with low light.

In terms of zooming capabilities, its telephoto camera has 3x and 10x optical zoom with a sensor that makes the photo clearer if you’re zooming further.

The downside, however, is that Samsung focused on improving just the main camera leaving its other cameras behind with 10 and 12 MP only whereas other android phones already have 40 MP and 50 MP on their other camera modes.

S22 Ultra is also built with Gorilla Glass Victus+ (glass front and back), and aluminum frame which is 2x better in terms of scratch resistance than its predecessor, Gorilla Glass 6.

The phone is also equipped with a huge storage of 128GB (8GB RAM) up to 1TB (12GB RAM) so you can store large files without compromising its performance.

With games though, you may need to buy wireless earphones to experience playing it better since there’s no 3.5mm jack for this phone.

If you value photos and videos or even just want a long-lasting phone and have extra money to spend, Samsung S22 Ultra is an incredibly capable all-around device for you.

Pros

  • Dust- and water-resistant
  • Has Face ID

Cons

  • No 3.5mm jack
  • Hefty price tag compared to other phones on this list
  • Protruding camera lens
  • Single sim card

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max is the latest flagship phone released among the phones on this list.

The display of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the superior among the phones on this list with peak brightness of 2000 nits. If you’re to ask us, this is the phone for you if you spend most of your days outside and want a phone with the finest display.

Similar to its predecessor, it has Corning-made glass on the front and back, and a stainless steel frame. It also makes use of IP68 radioprotection that safeguards it against dust and water for up to 6 meters.

It has an upgraded main camera that shoots 48 MP photos and an autofocus selfie camera, and also supports 4k videos at 24/25/30/60fps – which is perfect for individuals who always like to take videos.

However, in terms of design, this is the phone that has the most inconvenient camera placement since the lens sticks out to house the main camera.

Also, the phone doesn’t have a 3.5mm standard jack so you will only be limited to bluetooth audio devices when editing.

With its features, its battery is considered quite decent as it can last for more than 15 hours of continuous use, but its battery only has 4,323 mAh capacity, which is the least among the phones on this list.

Overall, despite its few drawbacks, we believe that the iPhone is a good option if you don’t mind the price tag and want a phone that functions similarly to a laptop.

Pros

  • Supports wireless charging
  • Equipped with ‘original color’ and ‘adaptive color’ setting
  • Minimal border display
  • Can take 8k videos at 24fps

Cons

  • Has 4600mAh battery
  • Subpar camera quality

The Xiaomi 12 Pro has the largest display, and best camera setup for an Android phone at this price.

We noticed that this phone is a traditional sandwich of glass and metal which makes this phone sturdy, fit for everyday use.

In terms of display, we liked its resolution as it is sharp with 521 ppi which makes the display clear and crisp. We appreciate that this phone has different options in terms of its display as well.

It has an “Original color” setting which delivers remarkably accurate colors even in bright outdoor conditions, and an “Adaptive colors” setting that modifies the display’s colors according to the lighting conditions.

Additionally, this phone supports HDR 10+ similar to Samsung S22 Ultra, which is its edge against iPhone 14 Pro Max that only supports HDR 10.

These settings and the phone’s minimal border display make the phone ideal for individuals who enjoy watching videos or playing games wherever they are.

The primary camera has a large seven-element lens with a Sony IMX707 sensor which enables shooting photos in lowlight as well.

However, its ultrawide camera doesn’t have autofocus and its telephoto is limited to 2x zoom only, which is lacking in terms of camera settings.

Also, all of the camera modes, particularly wide, ultrawide, and telephoto all capture 50 MP photos which is better than other phones on this list.

When it comes to battery, the phone’s 4600mAh capacity may feel a little underwhelming compared to other phones on this list but it offers a good charging speed that makes up for its small battery capacity.

Overall, we recommend this for people who like to watch videos and play games since its display gives a color-rich experience for its users wherever they are.

Pros

  • Most affordable phone
  • Lightweight and slim design
  • Has a crisp 120Hz AMOLED display good for watching

Cons

  • No card slot
  • Has pre installed third-party apps (bloatware)
  • 4500mAh battery

The most affordable new flagship phone this 2022 is Oppo Reno 8 Pro 5G.

Considering its price, the body is quite decent as it is made with Gorilla Glass 5, that can withstand drops for up to 1.5 meters, and plastic back and frame which has a sleek, sophisticated look.

It has a thin bezel all around, which adds to the sense of superior quality it exudes and provides acceptable viewing angles for its users.

The phone is best used in daylight when snapping pictures since it’s quite weak at low light. The back camera uses a 50 MP Sony IMX766 main sensor, and an 8 MP ultrawide camera with a 2 MP macro camera mounted alongside it.

The battery may also seem subpar offering only 4500 mAh but it can last for more than 5 hours even with continuous mobile gaming and more than enough for casual use.

In terms of storage, we liked how the phone utilizes up to 5GB of unused storage as virtual RAM, thanks to its RAM expansion feature which allows you to load apps faster.

However, this phone doesn’t have a card slot so you may want to invest in online drives for your files.

This one is focused more on gaming capabilities since the Reno 8 has a separate game bar that lets you play without being distracted. You can also increase your gaming performance by using the “Performance” setting.

The Oppo Reno 8 nonetheless makes up for its average camera and battery settings by being capable of lengthy gaming sessions and multitasking.

If you want an affordable phone that offers a good experience in gaming, this one might be perfect for you.

Pros

  • Large 120Hz QHD LTPO3 AMOLED display
  • High quality stereo speakers
  • Good battery life

Cons

  • No card slot
  • Lots of preinstalled applications (bloatware)
  • No micro SD expansion available

The Vivo X80 Pro boasts a 50 MP Isocell GNV primary camera with an f/1.57 aperture, a 1/1.3-inch sensor, and an optical image stabilization which produces clear photos even with shaky hands.

We like that this one is good for those who do mobile photography and experiment in terms of camera settings.

It has improved durability compared to its predecessors due to its glass front, Schott Xensation Up, which can endure drops from heights twice as great as standard aluminosilicate (AS) glass.

Web browsing, app launches, multitasking, and camera use have all been seamless despite continuous use since the X80 Pro is equipped with a minimum of 8GB RAM.

In terms of battery, moderate use of this phone lasts up to more than a day and the charging time is quite quick with less than an hour in the socket thanks to its 80W fast charger, fit for on-the-go individuals.

The only drawback here is the fixed 256GB of storage of X80 Pro. For many people, this is a good amount of storage, but eventually, videographers and mobile gamer will find it insufficient especially since the phone has numerous bloatwares installed.

As Vivo is already good in producing gaming phones, added the camera features among others, this phone is a good investment since it can be compared to other high-end phones.

So, if you are a gamer and a photo-videography enthusiast, you should check this phone out.
