- Expensive for a traditional rice cooker
Imarflex is a trusted, quality brand for home appliances in the Philippines, and their rice cookers are no exception.
The Imarflex IRC-150PC is a conventional type of rice cooker with a removable lid. It comes in a porcelain white body, with a spatula and holder on the side, and its own measuring cup.
It can accommodate up to 1.5 liters, or about 8 cups of rice good for 5 people. It cooks rice quickly and reliably, and can keep it warm for hours.
The IRC-150PC consumes roughly 500W of power with each use, and comes with a 1 year warranty.
This Imarflex model is a powerful multi-cooker with a non-stick pot. Its ceramic pot is non-toxic and eco-friendly as well, and the material it’s made of makes cleaning hassle-free.
Apart from cooking rice, it can function as a steamer for your potstickers, a shabu-shabu pot, and a food warmer––thus it’s advertised with 4-in-1 functionality.
Our critique for the Imarflex model is that in terms of price, it’s considerably more expensive for a traditional rice cooker.
It’s also not the most energy efficient, considering its size and capacity, since the average rice cooker consumes about 400W compared to its 500W.

- Large 5L capacity
- Crystal black, 5-layer ceramic pot heats evenly
- Programmable to cook a variety of dishes
- High temperature accuracy
Cons
- Very expensive model
- High energy consumption
- Appliance hot on the outside
If you’re interested in buying a smart, high-capacity rice cooker, be sure to include the Philips HD4515 on your list.
It’s a smart, programmable rice cooker with a sleek, modern design and an impressively large 5L capacity. It offers 10 multifunction programs for you to cook a variety of dishes, from rice to porridge, grains to noodle soup, and beans to risotto.
The HD4515 “tornado cooking” preset accelerates the cooking time to as fast as 25 minutes, but at the same time, it can keep your meal warm for up to 12 hours.
Don’t be overwhelmed by all the buttons, bells and whistles though! It has a large LED display so you can easily read the menu and settings you choose, and has a 24-hour preset timer to control your cooking time.
It also shines where rice cookers should. Its crystal black, 5-layer inner pot is ultra-thick at 3mm, thus enhancing thermal conductivity for evenly cooked and better-tasting rice at high temperature accuracy.
It has non-stick coating and its inner lid is detachable, which makes it a lot easier to clean compared to other rice cookers in our review. The manufacturer offers a 2-year warranty for the Philips HD4515.
The downside to the Philips model is that it’s sold at a very expensive price point for a rice cooker.
It also has high energy consumption (the highest in our review at about 790W-940W!), and it must be noted that when cooking, the appliance also gets hot on the outside.

Pros

Cons
- Consumes a lot of energy
- Short power cable
If you want to buy a smart rice cooker at a budget-friendly price, you’ll be totally sold on the Xiaomi Mijia 3C.
It has alloy lining, offers exceptional air dissipation, and is reasonably cheap for a smart rice cooker. Its heating method is by electric heating plate, and it has a very accurate temperature control system as an induction rice cooker.
The unit is very safe and durable, and packs a lot of punch with a spacious 3L capacity––you can cook more than enough rice for a family of 6! It’s very easy to clean as well, with its detachable design and non-stick material.
What we love about this rice cooker is that you can control it from your phone! The Mi Home App will have everything you need to operate the rice cooker remotely.
This rice cooker offers up to 3000 different cooking modes, and it even has a steamer. You can cook and prepare everything from rice to soup, and vegetables to dessert!
You’ll be surprised how much it can do for you—if you scan the barcode of a package of rice on your phone, the Xiaomi Mijia 3C will set itself to the ideal cooking mode.
Even if you’re not the most tech-savvy, its LED operational panel is intuitive and easy to use. It has an intelligent appointment function, with a 24 hour standby mode.
With it being a smart rice cooker, the Xiaomi Mijia 3C consumes a lot of energy at 650W, though it is understandable because it has a larger capacity than the other rice cookers we reviewed.
It’s also very electricity-dependent, but you need to set it up close to a socket because it has a very short power cord.
4. Micromatic MJRC-5028 Rice Cooker

Pros
- Most affordable
- Elegant design
- Durable stainless steel body
- Has a steamer basket function
- Fast cool down
Cons
- Rice cooker looks bulky but capacity isn’t much
- A bit difficult to clean
The most affordable rice cooker in our review is the Micromatic MJRC-5028.
It has an elegant, durable stainless steel design with black plastic casing that will look good on any kitchen countertop. It can cook about 6 cups of rice with its 1.5L capacity.
The Micromatic’s cheap price does not in any way compromise quality. The appliance doubles as a steamer, since it has a dedicated steamer basket on top for dimsum, vegetables, and fish.
THe MJRC-5028 can keep your food warm––just enough not to burn or overcook your food. Another nice thing about it is that it has the capacity to cool down quickly after use, so you don’t have to wait long till it’s time to wash up.
It consumes an average of 400W every use, which is the average consumption of most rice cookers, so it’s not bad at all.
Micromatic has an authorized store in Lazada that makes all your home appliance purchases easy and hassle-free! Being sold at 1,100 Php, the Micromatic MJRC-5028 offers the best value for money.
However, our criticism for it is that it looks bulky on the exterior but has a capacity that’s standard or isn’t much. We also found that the pot itself is a bit more difficult to clean than other models we reviewed.

Pros
- Easy to use
- Nice matte black design
- Heavy-duty inner pot
- Has automatic cooking and warming indicator lights
- Clear lid helps you check rice while it’s cooking
Cons
- Small 1L capacity
- Short cable wire
American Heritage is a well-known brand for home and kitchen appliances of all shapes and sizes. If you’re looking for an affordable and sleek-looking rice cooker that’s just right for your family of 4, we recommend the American Heritage AHRC-6171.
At first glance, this model is a conventional rice cooker with a removable lid.
It has a heavy duty, anodized aluminum inner pot with a pretty matte black finish on the exterior. This material of the inner pot distributes heat more evenly, which ultimately shortens cooking time.
It’s also very easy to use (you can make up to 5 cups of rice with it without breaking a sweat!) and it has automatic cooking and warming indicator lights. You’ll have effortlessly perfect, evenly-cooked rice in no time.
What we love about this particular model from American Heritage is that through its removable glass cover, you can easily monitor your rice readiness.
The American Heritage AHRC-6171 consumes 400W each use. It also has overheat safety protection, and a 6 month warranty should it not be working as expected.
What we don’t like about this American Heritage model is its capacity. For its price, it only offers a small 1L capacity, the least among all the rice cookers we reviewed.
Its cable wire is very short as well, so it’s best you position your cooker near an outlet.
